Tour code: LA3TAB-A - 3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS

Building the roof

In cooperation with TABITHA - Cambodia, Lolei Travel is offering you a unique experience - which is called "Housbuilding". TABITHA - Cambodia is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to reach out to the poorest of the poor in Cambodia. Their mission is to enable people to recognize and develop inherent skills and resources in such a way that utilization of these will result in work that brings dignity and respect within the country and within the world; and that will result in a measurable and visible improvement in the lifestyle of the Khmers. TABITHA focuses on the work of micro-enterprises and community development initiated through small business and cottage industry projects. TABITHA prepares family plans and is granting capital loans without interest. The loan repayment schedule is set at a specific rate which is affordable and is repaid on a weekly basis. The people who are requesting loans from TABITHA can decide on their own, which business they can perform successfully and which can be revolved on a daily basis. Since TABITHA has been operating, the majority of families, who are associated with TABITHA, have changed to eating three meals per day, and have been able to buy clothing and cooking utensils. Children are being enrolled in school and many families can now meet basic health care costs such as giving birth to child. The majority of the families are either in process of or have already bought a small piece of land. They are becoming permanent residents of their respective communities. Many families are in process the of rebuilding or constructing new homes. The stages move from plastic to thatch and from thatch to wooden structures.
This is where you will start to help the Khmer people in a team effort to build there new home.
