1. Day: Chiang Mai
Arrival at Chiang Mai: Your guide awaits you at the
Airport for the transfer to The Empress Hotel. Check-In
at your Deluxe Room. Later on you depart for
visiting the
Wat Doi Suthep Temple, the most beautiful and most
important temple of the city, located 1080 meters high
on the Suthep Mountain. On clear days you get a
fantastic view over the city and the province Chiang
Mai. The main attraction of the 16th century temple is
the golden Chedi, 32 m high and surrounded by a walk way
with Buddhist wall paintings. Later on we visit 2 more
historical temples in the old city and have lunch at a
local restaurant. In the afternoon we proceed to the
well-known handicrafts villages of Chiang Mai.
Arts and crafts of the Chiang Mai region are
world-famous. We visit a teak wood workshop, silver and
silk production and the Sa-paper umbrella factory.
Return to Chiang Mai and overnight at The Empress Hotel.
2. Day: Chiang Mai - Golf
Today you will play
your 1st round of golf in the north. The
Chiang Mai
Highlands Golf Resort
& Spa
lies about 45 minutes from the city center.
The last part of the trip leads through exceptionally
beautiful landscape, in eastern direction along
extensive rice fields into the mountains. The course was
opened only in 2005 and contributes the range of Chiang
Mai's golf curses with it's well designed layout and
stunning views over the area. The large and partly
sloped greens are not easy to play, especially since
they are protected by several bunkers. Bunkers and water
hazards at the sides provide the distinctive note of
this course and require a strategic game.
A nice clubhouse with
pleasant atmosphere and all facilities provides
relaxation before or after the golf round. Lunch at the
clubhouse. After
returning to the hotel, you still got time for relaxing
at the pool, taking a massage or visiting the Night
Bazaar.
Overnight at The Empress
Hotel.
3. Day: Chiang Mai - Golf
After breakfast you leave
Chiang May for the Mae Jo Golf
Club which is located right behind the Mae
Jo University, the oldest College of Agriculture
Thailand's. Seni Thirawat, a well known Thai golf course
designer has created a real jewel with this course. Long
fairways with Zoysia grass are perfect for low handicap
player from yellow, whereas higher handicap players
rather play from white (6.227 yards). Several water
hazards and doglegs as well as long par 5's require a
demanding game.
The Korean Velvet greens are mostly wide but often with
a slope. The surrounding mountains provide a stunning
view and a great nature experience. Thousands of mango
trees, lynches, pomelo, longan and orange trees line the
fairways. Another highlight is the refreshment bar at
the 14th hole, with a dream like view. The club house in
"Lanna Style" offers all facilities and friendly
service.
Return to Chiang Mai and
overnight at The Empress Hotel..
4. Day: Chiang Mai - Golden Triangle
After breakfast you leave
Chiang May northward for the visit of a elephant camp,
where the daily work of the elephants in the jungle is
demonstrated to you as well as the training of the young
elephants. You have the possibility (optional) for an
elephant ride thought jungle (around 45 minutes),
followed by a ride on a bamboo raft on the Mae Taman
River. After lunch at a local restaurant, you continue
via Tha Ton to the Chiang Rai province. You visit a hill
tribe village of the Hmong along the way and take a long
tail boat ride on the Mekong River, which takes you to
the Burmese and the Laotian side of the river. You visit
a village on the Laos side. In the early evening you
arrive at the luxury
Anantara Golden Triangle Resort, which is located at the
triangle of Thailand, Burma and Laos at a hill
overlooking the Mekong River.
5. Day: Golden Triangle - Chiang Rai
After breakfast departure for Mae Sai, the northernmost
city of Thailand. You will visit the turbulent "Border
Market" at the border to Burma (Myanmar). Buemese and
Chinese products such as electronics, herbal medicine,
antiques and gemstones are offered here. It is possible
to cross the border for a visit of the Burmese town of
Tachilek (10.- USD visa fee not included).
In Tachilek we explore the town by ricshaw ride and
visit a Burmese temple and the golden Pagoda on a hill,
with abeautiful panoramic view over the city and Borma.
Return to Thailand and lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch we proceed to
Santiburi Golf Club Chiang Rai
- a masterpiece designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.,
taking
advantage of the
natural terrain. The 18 holes championship course, par
72, is a challenge for every golfer. Rolling hills
guarded by countless sand and grass bunkers, trees and
huge water hazards, were designed into the natural
landscape of the northern region.
After the golf round you continue to the city of Chiang
Rai.
Overnight at the
The Legend
Chiang Rai, a first
class resort located near the Mae Kok River.
6.
Day:
Chiang Rai
After breakfast you
take a long-tail boat ride on the Mae Kok River to a
village of the Karen tribe. After lunch departure to the
Waterford Valley
Golf and Country Club,
an 18 hole
golf course located outside Chaing Rai Town, it takes
about 45 minutes to reach the course. The course
is situated on a plateau, surrounded by the gentle
mountains and cool valleys of the north, offering the
most beautiful panorama view in Thailand. The 7.100 yard
long par 72 Championship Course (designed from Rather
International in the year 1994) looks despite its rather
young age meanwhile very matured. The well maintained
fairways and greens are winding around a hill with lakes
and small channels. An unforgettable gulf day awaits you
in wonderful nature and exciting views in pleasant
climate.
