The mild climate of the north of the old Siam attracted rulers and Kings in ancient times already to set up their Kingdoms in this part of the country. Today beautiful Golf Courses were build into this mountainous, luxuriant landscape around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, the former “Realm of the 1000 Rice Fields”. Day 01: Tour begin at Chiang Mai. Arrival at Chiang Mai Airport and short transfer to Royal Princess Hotel and check in. This hotel of the well known Dusit Group is located in the heart if the city, only a short walking distance away from the colorful Night Bazaar. Rest of day at leisure with possibility to book optional golf rounds on the 18 holes course of Lanna Golf Club for instance. In the evening have a walk around he city with your tour guide and have a typical northern Lanna Dinner with folklore show of the local hill tribes. After Dinner have a walk over the Night Market of Chiang Mai; any kind of hand made goods, textiles, but also lots of kitsch! Please bargain! Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 02: American Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer in the morning to Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club for 18 holes round. Proceed afterwards to Doi Suthep, the mountain over viewing Chiang Mai with the Golden Chedi on summit and a famous symbol of the city. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 03: American Breakfast at the hotel and morning transfer to Chiang Mai - Lamphun Golf Club for 18 holes round. On route back visit the Handicraft Village at the outskirts of Chiang Mai, where silk, wooden teak articles, silver and paper umbrellas are produced in the old traditional hand made way. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 04: American Breakfast at the hotel and morning transfer to Green Valley Golf Club for 18 holes round. At noon proceed to Lamphun to visit Wat Phra That Haripunchai, a Burmese style temple, typical for this region. This lively temple was build in 1044 by King Athiytayaraj. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 05: American Breakfast at the hotel. Early morning leave for Chiang Rai. First stop on route at Chiang Dao Elephant Camp. The Elephant Camp  Tathon at the burmese border

Watch elephant performance and have a ride on one of the “artists”. Proceed to Tathon by passing the wonderful mountainous landscape. Have Lunch at a local restaurant and visit multi-religious Wat Tathon Temple and enjoy the spectacular view over the deep valley of Mae Kok River. Drive on to Chiang Rai and check in at Dusit Island Resort, located on an island in the Mae Kok River. Overnight.

The Dusit Hotel in Chiang Rai

Day 06: American Breakfast at he hotel and morning transfer to Waterford Valley Golf Club. Play a 18 holes round and enjoy a fantastic view over the wide valley with its countless rice fields. Afternoon proceed to Chiang Saen. This city was one of the first royal courts of the Kingdom of former Lanna and also a bulwark located direct at the Mekong River. Visit Wat Pa Sak and other historical places of the former realm of the “1000 Rice Fields” (= translation of “Lanna”). Tour proceeds to the “Golden Triangle”, where the boarders of Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos meet. Return to the hotel and overnight.

Day 07: American Breakfast at the hotel. Morning transfer to Santiburi Golf Club for 18 holes round. At noon return to the hotel. Afternoon take a boat ride with typical “Longtail Boat”. Trip starts from the pier of Dusit Island Resort to visit local hill tribes living along Mae Kok River. Return to he hotel and evening Farewell Dinner at a local Thai Restaurant. Overnight.

Day 08: American Breakfast at the hotel. End of program. Transfer to Chiang Rai Airport for flight to Chiang Mai or Bangkok. End of program.

Some useful hints for Chiang Mai   

After Golfing we recommend a refreshing and relaxing original Thai Massage at the Royal Princess Hotel. 2 hours course incl. herbals Sauna for 500.- Baht.

Lovers of Thai Cuisine should try “The Gallery” Restaurant! Luxury atmosphere, romantically located at the Ping River, visited even by Hillary Clinton during her last trip to Chiang Mai.

A real unique tit bit of Chiang Mai is “Khao Soi”, a substantial soup based on coconut milk is served with chicken or beef.

 

Some useful hints for Chiang Rai

At dusk visit the colorful and lively hill tribe market on Paholyothin Road. Any kinds of hand made articles on sales.

Take a Rickshaw ride at night through the streets of Chiang Rai. Negotiate the price before you start!
