are a family owned business and have been operating in the Maldives since the completion
of Barutheela's construction in October 1996. Barutheela offers a unique style of diving
and sailing live aboard excursions through the Maldives. Our routing is personalised and
flexible. We decide together with our guests once they have arrived where and how they
want to spend their excursion.
The Maldives offer unlimited resources of wonderful places to explore together above and
below the sea.
The ship
The M.S.S. Barutheela is a rare and one-of-kind ship, which has been
designed and constructed mainly according to the original plans of a Spanish galleon from
the end of the 18th Century. She is all wooden carefully hand-made with tools
that are no longer in use in European or US shipyards and which took 4 years. The design
is harmoniously entwined with the "Bounty Style" ambience along with all the
modern facilities to provide 4 star comfort, with lots of space. We have also included all
the necessities to indulge in the essential needs of every scuba enthusiast. This floating
oasis also offers an assortment of other programmes for the non-diving guests.
Accommodation
In 6 spacious and antique styled double cabins of which 4 can be
booked for either double or triple occupancy. All cabins are fully air-conditioned and
have a private bathroom with shower.
Meals & drinks
Our chef creates his cuisine "light", which compliments
the tropical climate. On board you are on full board with breakfast buffet, light lunch, 5
o'clock tea and dinner. We also serve wines, chilled draft beer and a variety of
tantalising cocktails.
The Staff
The success of Barutheela is largely owed to the staff. Besides
being cordial and knowledgeable, the staff seem to enjoying themselves as much as our
guests. This is a big part of what creates the unique harmony and camaraderie of the ship
and our guests.
Diving
We have on board a dive school, fully equipped for 16 divers. It is
a personalized and comfortable environment to learn at your leisure. We have professional
and friendly staff instructors who like sharing the underwater experience with you. The
unspoilt Maldives offer sights hardly to be seen anywhere else. 45 m visibility is quit
normal. There are several dive sites which have been ranked among the best in the world.
And there are much more waiting to be discovered. We take you to hand-picked locations of
underwater clarity and amazing marine life richness, manta, eagle, and sing-rays, sharks,
murray eels, turtles and colorful schools of thousands of reef fish. A 30 feet
dive-boat escorts our safaris, to take us near to the reefs and pick up the divers when
they come to the surface.
Non-Diving Guests
While our underwater explorers are getting wet down there, we offer
other diversions for our non-diving guests. One can have a tour of the local and
uninhabited islands, go snorkeling, swimming or beaching
